John Long, AKA Largo, is a founding member of SoCal’s legendary Stonemasters, the group that shaped perceptions of American free climbing in the 70s. With John Bachar and Ron Kauk he did the first free ascent of Astroman, the event that launched the big wall free climbing revolution. With Jim Bridwell and Billy Westbay he did the first one day ascent of the Nose on El Capitan. The Nose In A Day has since become one of the most coveted goals in climbing.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, John “Verm” Sherman put Hueco Tanks bouldering on the map, establishing over 500 first ascents there, many in the era before crash pads. He penned the original Hueco bouldering guides in the process introducing V-grades to the sport. With Kinnaloa Gear, he designed the first commercially available crash pad. Babyface, See Spot Run, Crash Dummy, Martini Roof, Star Power, Moonshine Roof, Better Eat Your Wheaties… Verm was there first.

These two legends will be sharing their stories of adventures, epics and debauchery with a dash of sobering practicality.

Prior to the Legends:

Slideshow and presentation by Joel Unema about injury and emergency situations in the backcountry.

Blake McCord will be debuting his short film “JAM: The Journey”. A satirical, work of genius starring Jeff Snyder.

Voodoo Climbing will have a booth with all their cool, locally made gear! Every Flagstaff climber must own Voodoo gear.

The Beta Bouldering booth will have free passes!
